General --February is the last month of meteorological winter in the Northern Hemisphere. --Nearly all February lightning over the United States is in well-organized lines and clusters. --The east-west aligned equatorial trough, the Intertropical Convergence Zone, is somewhat apparent over the eastern North Pacific and more continuous over the western Atlantic. --The only February lightning over Canada and Alaska is in southern Ontario. --Central America has minimal lightning. ~Ron Holle
