--July is the middle of summer in the Northern Hemisphere. --Most thunderstorms are moving from W to E. --The progression of the sun from E to W can be seen as indicated by the latest hours in white. --Much of the July lightning is over land and during the day. --Storms at higher latitudes often travel a long distance, last a long time, and move very quickly. --Storms are not tightly clustered against the south slope of the Himalayas compared with earlier months of the year. --The large islands of SE Asia do not have as much July lightning activity as in earlier months in the year. --Daily storms develop over the south and west coasts of Yemen on most days. ~Ron Holle
