--May is the last month of meteorological spring in the Northern Hemisphere. --Most thunderstorms at higher latitudes move from west to east, while they move from varying directions in tropical regions. --The major islands and land areas of tropical Southeast Asia have thunderstorms nearly every afternoon in sea breezes and along mountain slopes. Motion is often from east to west near the equator. --Thunderstorms move to the east-southeast along the southern boundary of the Himalayas on most May days. Clusters of lightning often form to the south of the mountains and race to the southeast several times during May. --Russia, Mongolia, and Japan have a few days in May with thunderstorms. --India lightning is scattered through the country through May. ~Ron Holle
