General --September is the first month of meteorological autumn in the Northern Hemisphere. --The major islands and land areas of tropical Southeast Asia have daily thunderstorms in sea breezes and along mountain slopes; they move from variable directions. --Most thunderstorms at higher latitudes move from west to east. --Russia has minimal lightning during September. --Over India, there is more frequent lightning to the north and east earlier in September, then activity shifts to the south. --The equatorial trough, the Intertropical Convergence Zone, is not identifiable over the Indian and Western Pacific Oceans. Specific --10 to 16 September: Super Typhoon Mangkhut moves from E to W across northern Philippines toward Hong Kong. --11 to 14 September: Storms form daily over northern Pakistan and move to the southeast along the southern base of the Himalayas. --22 to 26 September: Super Typhoon Trami moves from SE to NW to the southeast of Taiwan. ~Ron Holle
