--The major islands of SE Asia have thunderstorms nearly every afternoon due to sea breezes and along the slopes of mountain ranges. --Lightning is on the S side of the Himalayas over India on many days of the month. --Daily storms over New Guinea are especially intense earlier in the month. --01 to 10 April: A large area of diffuse but frequent lightning is located over the Indian Ocean near the equator, especially during the first half of the month. --03 to 13 April: Storms form daily over Pakistan and move ESE. --04 to 07 April: Well organized lines of thunderstorms, likely along frontal boundaries, are over south and central China. --07 and 25 April: Two of the few thunderstorm complexes over Australia in April form on the SE coast and their remnants move SE to New Zealand. --12 to 15 April: A large cyclonic circulation covers most of India. --28 to 29 April: A cluster of frequent lightning races WNW to ESE across northern India at the base of the Himalayas. ~Ron Holle
