General --June is the first month of meteorological summer in the Northern Hemisphere. --Russia and China have frequent lightning during June in varying configurations. --The major islands and land areas of tropical Southeast Asia have daily thunderstorms in sea breezes and along mountain slopes; they move mostly from the west early in the month then are mainly stationary later in June. --Most thunderstorms at higher latitudes move from west to east. --There is widespread lightning over both land and sea from India to the east and south during the last half of June. --The equatorial trough, the Intertropical Convergence Zone, is difficult to identify on most June days over the Indian and Western Pacific Oceans. ~Ron Holle

--02 to 03 and 12 to 16 June: Thunderstorms race from the northwest to southeast along the base of the Himalayas. --09 to 12 June: Large thunderstorm complexes move northwest to southeast over central and eastern India. --26 to 30 June: A very large cyclonic circulation is nearly stationary over Kazakhstan and southern Russia. ~Ron Holle
