General --June is the first month of meteorological summer in the Northern Hemisphere. --June lightning over the United States occurs in both large and small systems, clusters, and lines across all of the country. --Western Canada and Eastern Alaska have frequent strokes in June. --Central America, Mexico, Florida, and Cuba have daily lightning during most of the month. --The east-west aligned equatorial trough, the Intertropical Convergence Zone, is sparsely defined over the eastern North Pacific. --Minimal lightning in Hawaii region. Specific --10 to 11 and 21 June: North-south lines of thunderstorms to lee of Canadian Rockies. --22 to 26 June: Thunderstorms form in Colorado and move far to the east-southeast. --26 to 27 June: Two squall lines from Kentucky to Ohio have over one million mostly in-cloud strokes. ~Ron Holle
