Lightning Animations (492 videos)

--October is the middle month of meteorological spring in the Southern Hemisphere. --Most lightning over land is during the day. --The Andes usually provide a sharp western boundary in a generally NNW-SSE line and no lightning occurs over the cold water offshore of the Andes. --The equatorial trough, also called the Intertropical Convergence Zone, is somewhat well defined in an east-west alignment over the Atlantic Ocean westward from Africa. --Storms form farther south over South America as the month progresses. --Areas of frequent daily formation of thunderstorm complexes are 1) east-central Brazil, and 2) NE Argentina to Paraguay and Uruguay. ~Ron Holle
