--June is the first month of meteorological summer in the Northern Hemisphere. --Most thunderstorms at higher latitudes move from west to east, while they move from varying directions in tropical regions. --The major islands and land areas of tropical Southeast Asia have thunderstorms nearly every afternoon in sea breezes and along mountain slopes. Motion is often from east to west near the equator. --Thunderstorms move to the east-southeast along the southern boundary of the Himalayas on most June days. --The Indian subcontinent and China have frequent lightning throughout June. --Russia lightning tends to be in long lines, generally moving from west-southwest to east-northeast. ~Ron Holle
