--April is the middle month of meteorological spring in the Northern Hemisphere. --April lightning over the United States is mainly in well-organized lines and clusters that usually start on the Plains and/or Southeast states and move eastward for several days. --The east-west aligned equatorial trough, the Intertropical Convergence Zone, is intermittent over the eastern North Pacific. --Canada and Alaska have very few strokes during April. --Central America and Mexico lightning increases during the course of April. --Daily thunderstorms over Brazil move from the northeast, but individual storms do not travel far. ~Ron Holle

--03 to 04 April: Continuous line of lightning from Texas to Ohio in afternoon; severe wind and hail and a few tornadoes. --09 to 11 April: Long frontal boundary over western Atlantic. --12 to 14 April: Equatorial trough is well defined in the eastern Pacific. --14 to 16 April: Squall line extends from Mexican border to Great Lakes, and then moves southeastward. --28 to 30 April: Cyclonic circulation north of Hawaii. ~Ron Holle
