--June is the first month of meteorological summer in the Northern Hemisphere. --Scattered lightning activity is apparent in lines and small clusters over all of Europe except Scandinavia during the course of June. --Nearly all thunderstorm move from a westerly component over Europe, while they are mostly stationary or move slowly from the east over North Africa. --Thunderstorms form on many days over Turkey, and on the north coasts of Algeria and Morocco. ~Ron Holle

--21 to 25 June: New storms begin over the United Kingdom and move eastward until dissipating over Turkey. --28 to 29 June: A long continuous line of lightning extends from Romania, across Ukraine, to the northern Chinese border. --29 to 30 June: Major north-south line of lightning moves rapidly from Poland to eastern Russia. ~Ron Holle
