--06 to 07, and 28 August: Most of the August lightning over the U.K. is on these dates. --11 August: Continuous line of lightning from southwest over Italy to northeast over Russia. --15 to 21 August: Widespread south to north motion of thunderstorms over western Russia. --21 August: Farthest north lightning of August is north of Russia moving from southwest to northeast. --24 to 26 August: Outbreak of thunderstorms over Spain and Portugal. --24 to 26 August: A well-defined cyclonic circulation is apparent south of Italy over the Mediterranean. --28 to 30 August: A cyclonic circulation is evident over the western Black Sea. ~Ron Holle
