CentralAmericaNov2013_6HR

--November is late autumn in the middle latitudes. --Tropical disturbances and systems are traveling east to west. --The Andes provide a sharp western boundary --No lightning occurs over the cold water offshore of the Andes. --Sea breezes are not significant in producing lightning --The equatorial trough is relatively disorganized this month. --The eastern cape of Brazil has very little lightning. Interesting Features --2nd and 3rd of month: A strong organized system moves north to south over the Gulf of Mexico, probably from a North American cold front. --17th to 19 of month: An amazingly well-organized surge of lightning starts over South America at the southern border of the display and moves northward. It is bounded on the west by the Andes, so it is likely to be a low-level feature. --28th to 30th of month: A large circular area of lightning is apparent over the NE corner of the display due to a middle-latitude surface and/or upper low.
